100+ Women of Athens Votes to Award Wheels of Hope!

Wheels of Hope receives donations from 100+ Women of Athens group.

We are excited to announce that the 100+ Women Who Care Athens group voted on Wheels of Hope to receive donations from its members in December. This group of women meets four times a year and listens to presentations from three different non-profit organizations local to Athens. They then vote on an organization to receive a $100 donation from each member.

Jamaica helped with the presentation and did an excellent job. We are excited to receive these generous donations to help us get back on our feet after the pandemic.

A Successful Fundraiser, Executive Director Position Filled, and more news

Our annual fundraiser this July, sponsored by Jackson EMC, was a massive success! Despite a few setbacks when it came to the menu, Charlie Upchurch of Coldwell Banker Upchurch Realty saved the day! Charlie made his famous smoked pork served alongside baked beans, coleslaw, potato salad, and dessert (and veggie dogs for the vegetarians). We sold over 100 plates and raised over $6,300!! Way to go!

Thanks to Jackson EMC and Upchurch Realty! We’d also like to thank our board members and volunteers for helping make this a success.

Wheels of Hope is happy to announce we have filled the position and are no longer looking for an Executive Director! We welcomed Marlene Koncewicz into the role. She formerly served as Secretary for Wheels of Hope. Marlene is a wonderful help, very organized, and has been driving for Wheels of Hope for awhile now. Happy to have her as the Executive Director!

Wheels of Hope is always looking for volunteers. Click here for more information on how you can help!

Jamaica Presents Founders Challenge Check

After swimming a record 722 laps this summer, Jamaica Miller presented Joe James with a check for all the money she raised. Although the check shows $2,800.00, it was printed prematurely. Jamaica actually raised over $3,300 with her Founder’s Challenge. Jamaica did not let the pandemic get her down this summer, she used all her time at home to get outside and swim some laps. She stayed motivated and it payed off, literally! Nice work, Jamaica! Photo description: Joe James and Jamaica Miller are standing outside holding an extra large check between them. The check is made out to Wheels of Hope from Jamaica Miller for $2,800.
